Our story

From barn to retreat.

A real barn, first

L’Étable du Vercors is a barn first of all: thick stone walls, rough beams, and an old hay rack still hanging on the wall.

Magali and Cindy renovated it entirely themselves, with a great deal of heart. The result keeps the character of the place: exposed stone, beams, a stone fireplace, reclaimed wood, and furniture that has already lived a little.

A house, a hamlet, a river

Today the gîte occupies the ground floor of Magali’s house while staying completely independent. It sits in a very quiet hamlet of about ten residents, at 750 m altitude and 3 km from the village, crossed by a small river, the Vernaison.

We wanted a place to slow down and disconnect: that is why there are no screens, but books, magazines, guides, games, a radio and a purring stove.

Your hosts

Magali and Cindy live in the house whose ground floor is the gîte. Check-in is self-service with the key box, and they stay reachable for any question. French, English and Spanish are spoken.

Magali is an Airbnb Superhost, and her guests love to say so: you can feel the care that went into this project.
